North Carolina’s Smoke-Free Restaurants and Bars Law
As of January 2, 2010, nearly all restaurants and bars in North Carolina and many lodging establishments are smoke-free, thanks to S.L 2009-27 (G. S. 130A-496), otherwise known as North Carolina’s Smoke-Free Restaurants and Bars Law. On this site, SmokeFree.NC.Gov, you will find information about the law, frequently asked questions,
tools for businesses to prepare for the law, and information for citizens.
Violations can be filed by calling the
CARE-LINE at 1-800-662-7030 from 7 am - 11 pm seven days a week.

Effective December 1, 2009, the NC DPH Immunization Branch has changed the availability of certain vaccines. Children who qualify for the Vaccines for Children Program will continue to get the vaccines at no cost, however some families will now be responsible for the cost of vaccines that are recommended but not required. This change is a result of significant budget cuts to North Carolina’s vaccine program. We regret that we are no longer able to offer all recommended childhood vaccines and some adult vaccines at no cost.
Where can I find dental care? Who provides medical transportation? Answers to these questions and others are in our updated Community Resources for Health and Wellness brochure. A Spanish version is available as well.
